BAH TO HALLOWEEN !!!!
This is the very first year I get to IGNORE Halloween. First year I don't have a child around to care about anything even remotely connected with the "holiday".
I've enjoyed all the years of costumes, parties, trick-or-treating, trick-or-treaters at the door, etc. etc. etc. It was nice and fun and cute.
But now it's over. An era has past.
And I'm glad.
The area where I live there aren't any trick-or-treaters, so it's easy to ignore the night when it arrives. No pumpkins on the doorstep. No candy dish. (I'll miss the excuse to buy candy.)
Of course now there are Christmas decorations in Jo-Ann's and the grocery store and everywhere else I look.
I'm okay with Christmas.
My advise? Enjoy Halloween while the kids are young. It really is fun for them and therefore fun for you. But when they get older and don't care anymore? That's when you find out if you really DO (or don't) care about a particular holiday.
Of course, come to think of it, along will come Grandchildren some day....and I'll be back at the Halloween stuff all over again.
Okay.
That means I'm just taking a "vacation" from Halloween. Oh. I get it. Well, okay. For the future grandchildren I'll start all over again with the costumes, etc. etc.
No problem.
Hear that, kids?

I think you just hit on the reason that Halloween stays important to me. First it was my kids, relatives and my kids friends, then later there was the sisters and brothers of my kids friends plus nieces and nephews, then along came the grandchildren and now there is the great grandchildren. So, I have always had little ones- never had a quiet Halloween with no children. My home may be empty except for my Border Collie, but I still decorate the kitchen/ dinning ares-plus windows and door for all the little ones who walk by on their way to and from school. Even the little ones in my Daughter`s day care like seeing what I put in my windows and doors. She lives next door.
I used to decorate a lot more. but have cut it down to just the one room now. Less to take down later. Halloween wouldn`t mean much without the little ones showing up. Candy gets more expensive every year.
If it's a forced march each year then I could see how you'd end up disliking it.
Since I have no kids (and don't want any for myself) I like carving a pumpkin and handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters. But since that is all I'm obligated to do (heck,I'm not even obligated to do even that), it's kind of nice.
But since this was your first opportunity to BAH the day, I hope you BAHed it well!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Thanks for your visit to my blog. It looks like we both read Meno's blog.
I don't have any kids come to the house due to my neighborhood, either. I have Grandkids but they don't live here in my town. I sort of miss the activities of Halloween but really it was more my wife's holiday than mine.
